Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc. Launches New Marshal Program to Deliver More Opportunities for Southern Nevada Residents to Get Involved in Race

The FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN SILVER LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX invites both experienced race marshals and individuals interested in becoming marshals to apply for the 2024 race, taking place this November. New for this year, Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc. is launching a marshal program in collaboration with US Race Management (USRM), aimed at providing more opportunities to local residents interested in becoming new marshals. There are 600 positions available ranging from flagging and track conditions communications to pit lane and grid marshals. Playing a crucial role in race safety and success, this opportunity offers a chance to join a passionate community, gain hands-on motorsport experience and contribute to the legacy of Formula 1®.

Interested experienced marshals may apply here.

Las Vegas-area residents interested in the marshal program may register for more information here.

“We had over 1,000 seasoned marshals apply to support the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix last year,” said Silvia Bellot, VP Sporting and Race Operations at Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc. “We hope to welcome back familiar faces and have new ones join us to help ensure the safety of our drivers and spectators. With the introduction of our new marshal program, our goal is to welcome even more marshals from Southern Nevada.”

Race marshals will promote overall efficiency and safety of the event. US Race Management and Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc. will oversee the selection process for the 600 marshal positions, which include:

  • Flagging & Communication Marshals: Responsible for communicating track conditions using various flags—yellow, green, red, and blue—as well as safety car boards and light signals to Race Control via radio.
  • Intervention Marshals: Provide assistance during on-track incidents, offer trackside support for drivers and fellow marshals and aid in vehicle recovery. Must be able to carry a 20lb fire extinguisher, run long distances and feel comfortable on a hot track with cars and safety equipment.
  • Pit Lane and Grid Marshals: Assist with pit lane and grid safety and discipline.
  • Marshal Support: Aid in hospitality, registration, equipment management and transport for other marshals.

Selected marshals are required to serve throughout the entirety of the event from November 20-23, and will be contracted to fulfill these duties with compensation in the form of value-in-kind goods and/or services, to include a subsidy for the official marshal host hotel. International applicants must have valid U.S. work authorization. Full requirements and details may be found on the application website.
