GET UP TO SPEED WITH FERRARI CHALLENGE

F1® Las Vegas
09.19.2024 LV Grand Prix

Race fans attending the FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN SILVER LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX Nov. 21-23 will get the chance to enjoy more on-track action than ever before, as the hugely-popular Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli gears up to be a support event for the first time in Las Vegas.

Regarded as one of the most renowned single-make championships in the world, this year the series features the brand-new model from the Prancing Horse marque – the V6 twin-turbo 296 Challenge. The 296 represents a further evolution of the concept behind the Ferrari Challenge competition car with an increase in overall performance.

The stunning 296 Challenge made its on-track debut earlier this season and competes in both the European and North American rounds of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli. The latest machine from the Prancing Horse’s racing stable is the first in this series to sport a V6 engine and the hybrid powertrain has been designed to reduce overall weight. The power output has increased to 700cv at 7,500rpm, while the downforce figures have been developed to new extremes — now 870kg of downforce is produced at 155mph. This is an 18 percent increase on the older 488 Challenge Evo.

Based on the 296 GTB, the new car is the ninth model to be featured in the prestigious single-marque series, since the Championship was inaugurated back in 1993. With races held on some of the most legendary circuits in the world, the success of Ferrari Challenge has seen the high-octane series expand into various regional divisions. In addition to the European and North American competitions, there are also rounds organized in the UK and Japan, while the championship is broadcast in over 90 countries worldwide.

As a support race for the FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN SILVER LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX, fans of the Italian marque will experience the thrill of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli across two 35 minute races held under the floodlights on Friday and Saturday night on Las Vegas’s famous city streets. As the Ferrari Challenge makes its first visit to the 3.85-mile Las Vegas Strip Circuit™, drivers will also get to learn the course with an acclimatization practice session on Thursday evening, before qualifying sets the grid later that night. Fans will also be able to enjoy the 296 Challenge close-up, as the Italian marque’s garages will be located in the heart of the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix Fan Experience for spectators to sample on Las Vegas Boulevard during the weekend. With a full grid of cars battling at high-speed under the lights, the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli is set to be an thrilling addition to the FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN SILVER LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX 2024.
