LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX, INC. DRIVES IMPACT THIS THANKSGIVING WITH DONATION TO THREE SQUARE AND THE AFTERMARKET
Unused food from race weekend finds a new purpose in feeding local families this holiday season
As part of its ongoing commitment to the Las Vegas community and sustainability, Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc. partnered with Three Square Food Bank and The Aftermarket to recover and donate unused food from The FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN SILVER LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX 2024. This effort ensures that surplus food from the Grand Prix will directly benefit families and individuals in Southern Nevada this Thanksgiving.
The Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc. donated 72,000 pounds of food, which will help these local hunger relief organizations support families in need. As part of this recovery initiative, fresh produce, canned foods, beverages, milk, dry pasta and more were collected to make meaningful contributions for the people who need it most.
“This effort isn’t just about redistributing food, it’s about creating a positive and lasting impact here in Southern Nevada,” said Lori Nelson-Kraft, Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc. “Working with Three Square and The Aftermarket allows us to address food insecurity in a way that aligns with the values of the Grand Prix and our community.”
“The impact of the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix extends beyond the racetrack, helping us provide more meals to neighbors facing hunger in the community,” said Beth Martino, President and CEO of Three Square Food Bank. “Thanks to their generosity and dedication to reducing food waste, Three Square rescued 60,000 pounds of food – equivalent to 50,000 meals – following the event. We are grateful to Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix for their support, which makes a meaningful difference for the one in seven Southern Nevadans we are privileged to serve.”
The collaboration with Three Square and The Aftermarket is part of a larger sustainability effort by Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc. to reduce waste and maximize resources across all aspects of the event. Across all aspects of Formula 1, sustainability remains top of mind for the organization, its partners and race teams. Through these partnerships, the Las Vegas Grand Prix continues to build a meaningful legacy, ensuring that the excitement of race week extends far beyond the track and into the lives of those who need it most.
