Samsung Fuels Race-Day Thrills at Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix
With dynamic digital signage, Formula 1 fans will experience a captivating race weekend on and off the track – from start to finish
Samsung continues to light up the Las Vegas Strip for the Formula 1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix 2024 through its partnership with Liberty Media and Las Vegas Grand Prix. As the race begins on November 23, Formula 1 fans at the event and viewers worldwide will witness the brilliance of Samsung display technologies illuminating the pit building and surrounding areas. This includes three massive grandstand screens, dynamic tight pitch displays enhancing the entry escalator, and a display in the shape of the F1 logo – serving as a standout feature in the Las Vegas skyline. When combined, the 250,000 LED modules in the installation total 35 million pixels – enough digital signage to wrap around the street circuit two and a half times.
The state-of-the-art pit building is housed in the newly named Grand Prix Plaza (GPP) – a four-story, multi-use complex that offers impressive space for both indoor and outdoor entertainment, including during the race. The roof of the pit building houses a 28,075-square-foot 10mm LED display with over 22 million pixels that spans 481 feet – longer than a football field – in the shape of the F1 logo that was installed last year. The race organizers and sponsors can deliver custom creative content on the stunning display to be seen from above by passengers flying into the Harry Reid Airport in Las Vegas and from helicopter tours around the city.
“Grand Prix Plaza is set to be the ultimate destination on the Las Vegas Strip for future Formula 1 races and events for years to come,” said David Phelps, Head of the Display Division, Samsung Electronics America. “Get ready for a venue where the high-octane energy of Las Vegas and cutting-edge Samsung display technology come together to make every event a thrilling experience.”
Strategically placed LED screens in the grandstands around the track ensure that fans never miss a moment, from overtakes and turns to pit stops – even those lasting less than three seconds. The impressive 1,480-square-foot LED escalator display welcomes fans to Grand Prix Plaza as they head up to the second floor of the pit building, delivering a “wow” factor with dynamic content. The 9-million-pixel screen is so captivating that many fans need to stop to take pictures of the displays when they arrive at the escalators.
The grandstand and escalator displays will also be featured in F1’s global broadcasts and the Campus Show, which highlights track activities, including other support series. Before and after track action, fans can enjoy engaging content on the grandstand and escalator screens, featuring driver highlights, concert footage, venue activities, photo opportunities and partner activations from various parts of the venue.
“Grand Prix Plaza represents a bold revolution in fan engagement at the Las Vegas Grand Prix,” said Emily Prazer, F1® and Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc. Chief Commercial Officer. “This state-of-the-art venue blends the energy of Formula 1 with immersive digital experiences, enhancing the fan experience and offering fans of all ages an unforgettable race weekend filled with excitement both on and off the track.”
Throughout the year, Grand Prix Plaza will serve as a premier venue for private events where the LED screens will welcome and immerse guests with digital content. In 2025, Grand Prix Plaza aims to utilize the displays in engaging ways for national holidays, such as the Fourth of July, Christmas, New Year’s Eve and more.
